Chacon Creek Feasibility Study

Chacon Creek in Laredo, Texas is a multi-purpose, flood risk management, environmental restoration, and recreational project of the Rio Grande Basin that was studied under Section 203 of the Water Resource Development Act (WRDA) of 1986 (P.L. 99-662) as amended.  The study started as a partnership between USACE and the City of Laredo in a Water Resources Feasibility Study in 2004.  USACE developed a draft report in 2010, that was updated and submitted by the City of Laredo in 2018 to the office of the Assistant Secretary of the Army for Civil Works.   As a result of the review process, it was determined that unresolved issues identified in the Feasibility Report needed to be addressed and associated environmental compliance activities needed to be completed prior to project implementation.
On 17 January 2023, USACE and the City of Laredo entered into a Cost Share Agreement to conduct an assessment and develop a Letter Report response to address the unresolved identified issues, and conduct required environmental compliance actions.
