  • USACE to host public review of the B. A. Steinhagen/Town Bluff Dam Master Plan revision

    Fort Worth District, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers officials announce today a public meeting on August 29 at 4-6 p.m. at the Jasper County Annex, 271 East Lamar, Jasper, Texas 75951 to provide information and receive public input as it revises the Master Plan for B. A. Steinhagen Lake. At the conclusion of the presentation there will be an opportunity for the public to view maps, ask questions, and provide comments about the proposed draft Master Plan.
  • USACE begins re-filling of B.A. Steinhagen Lake/Town Bluff

    U.S. Army Corps of Engineers officials at Town Bluff Dam/B.A. Steinhagen Lake, Woodville, Texas, (locally known as Dam B) announced today that the process to re-fill B.A. Steinhagen Lake began on Wednesday, July 19, 2023.  The necessary maintenance work on the Robert D. Willis Powerhouse, which required a complete drawdown of the lake, has been successfully completed ahead of schedule.

  • Sam Rayburn Reservoir to begin surcharge operations

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Fort Worth District Officials, in keeping with its flood risk reduction charter, announce today that beginning on May 24 surcharge operations at Sam Rayburn Reservoir will begin. Sam Rayburn continues to receive floodwater runoff from recent storms and is currently operating in the surcharge pool with an elevation of 173.26 feet as of 1:30 p.m. Normal pool elevation is 164.40 feet and top of flood pool is 173 feet. Area above 173 feet is operating into the surcharge pool with top of labyrinth spillway at 176 feet.
  • Sam Rayburn Reservoir and Town Bluff Dam continue flood operations

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Fort Worth District, in keeping with its flood risk reduction charter, continues to monitor and manage recent flooding at Sam Rayburn Reservoir and B.A. Steinhagen Lake/Town Bluff Dam in Texas. Water releases from Town Bluff Dam were increased due to inflow in the Neches River Basin above the reservoir and weather conditions in the area. Currently, releases out of Town Bluff are approaching 40,000 cubic feet per second.  The Fort Worth District has notified impacted emergency managers of these circumstances and the potential for downstream flooding.
