USACE to allow temporary mooring at Belton Lake

Published Aug. 7, 2015

FORT WORTH, Texas – The U. S. Army Corps of Engineers at Belton Lake will temporarily allow lake worthy floating structures to be relocated to an appropriate area pending rehabilitation and replacement of the Pier 36 Marina.

After careful deliberation, USACE is offering an alternative to slip renters during the transition to a new lessee. This will provide limited relief to those who may otherwise experience substantial hardship during this difficult period.

No action relative to slip renters will be taken by USACE prior to the selection of the new lessee on September 4.  The deadline for the removal of the slip renter’s personal property is September 8.  This does not change the requirement for the marina owner to remove his personal property in accordance with the original notice.

USACE will accept applications for temporary mooring consents to allow lake worthy floating structures to be relocated to an appropriate area pending rehabilitation and replacement of the marina.  Interested parties should contact the Belton Lake office for the required forms.  Patrons experiencing hardships or who have concerns with removal of their vessel should contact the lake office relative to having their specific circumstances individually reviewed.

Finally, USACE is aware that many slip renters have made substantial investments in boat lifts.  USACE will provide a temporary area for onsite storage at no cost to slip renters.  For more information, please contact the Belton Lake Office at 254-939-2461.
