– As a model district for how engineering and construction projects should be successfully executed, The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Fort Worth District, honored its top interior designer during its Engineer Day Annual Awards ceremony June 13.

Allyson Walters, a nine-year Corps employee, received this top honor for her dynamic leadership and facilitation of a major design process that resulted in the highly successful completion of a $5.5 million District office renovation for Fort Worth District offices within the Fritz G. Lanham Federal Building.

Walters leadership skills were key to how she managed a complex team representing 17 internal and external agencies through the planning, design, budgeting and construction of the project.  Among the numerous milestone achievements she accomplished was her creation of a unique design that resulted in a reduction of space allocation per district employee, saving the District several thousand dollars in overall facility costs.

“Allyson is truly one of the best interior designers not just in the Corps but across DoD,” said Col. Charles Klinge, commander, Fort Worth District.

“What differentiates Allyson from many of her peers is her ability to operate extremely effectively at the project level, solving problems and keeping projects moving forward,” said Brian Giacomozzi, chief, Engineering and Construction Division, Fort Worth District

Walters superior design achievements have left her no time to rest on those laurels as she was recently assigned to lead the Southwestern Division Headquarters Office, Dallas renovation project.

“I am honored to have been chosen as the District’s Interior Designer of the Year and am looking forward to putting the same level of attention and work to our division headquarters renovation to make it just as successful as the district renovation project,” said Walters.
