FORT WORTH, Texas – Officials with the Fort Worth District, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Stillhouse Hollow Lake will be conducting controlled burns at Dana Peak Park, located at 3800 Comanche Gap Rd, Harker Heights, TX, on Monday August 11th and Tuesday August 12th.
The last round of flooding brought flood debris into the park covering roads, picnic areas and the shoreline. To reopen the park, Stillhouse Hollow Lake staff and prescribed fire team have worked to pile the debris for these controlled burns. During the controlled burns the entire park will be closed to the public. This includes the boat ramp and trail parking along the access road. The lake staff and burn team will be working alongside other partner agencies to complete these burns safely.
Alternate boat ramps that are available during the burns can be found at Stillhouse Park, Union Grove, and Rivers Bend.
The Stillhouse Hollow Lake Office would like to thank you for your patience while we complete these controlled burns. For more information or if you have any questions, you can reach out the Stillhouse Hollow Lake Office at 254-939-2461.
