Fort Worth District, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Officials at Canyon Lake, would like to clarify the closure schedule for Overlook Park and Canyon Dam Service Road for contract work.
Since December 2024, two contracts were awarded that necessitated the closure of the Overlook Park and Canyon Dam Service Road. The work at the Overlook Park includes a pipe rail fence around the entire parking area and four security gates. With fence work being constructed along the road, the contract requires COE road to be closed. Currently, the contract is a few weeks from being completed.
The Canyon Dam Service Road contract involves repairs and maintenance to the outlet works bridge. When this contract was awarded, included was a period of performance lasting thru most of this year. Originally, it was felt the work could be completed prior to the entire contract period, which is why we stated the closure would be thru March. When it became evident the entire contract period of performance would be needed, the adjusted closure date was released. We apologize for the confusion this has caused. We are working diligently to complete this contract and will strive to do so ahead of schedule. However, due to the nature of this work, the area will remained closed until the bridge repairs are completed. North Park Campground has been made available and open to the public from 8:00 a.m. to sunset, Monday through Thursday, for walking, jogging, running, and bicycling.
