Officials with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Fort Worth District, at Lavon Lake announce they are beginning a study to determine how to improve recreation facilities at Lavon Lake.
Lavon Lake launched the study to develop a comprehensive strategic plan focused on enhancing recreation areas at Lavon Lake. The study explores solutions like optimizing internal operations, building innovative partnerships with local municipalities, and potential leases with other government agencies at the local, county, and state levels. The goal is to provide the greatest number of high-quality facilities for the public to enjoy.
In the coming months, USACE will conduct a thorough analysis to identify opportunities for maintaining and enhancing parks based on current and anticipated future funding. Additionally, starting this week, USACE has begun engaging with local municipalities, Collin County, and Texas Parks and Wildlife Department. These collaborative discussions are designed to explore potential partnership and leasing options with other Government agencies, aiming to expand local involvement and ensure that parks in the area continue to thrive as valuable community resources.
“We understand the importance of this study and are mindful of the potential impacts these decisions may have on local businesses and the community. Public feedback is important, and we encourage everyone to share your thoughts with us, your local officials, or both”, said Michael Kinard, Lake Manager at Lavon Lake.
