FORT ORTH Texas – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ Fort Worth District announced today the selection Brett Mazey, a retired U.S. Air Force Lt. Col., as the new Canyon Lake Manager.

Mazey has more than 20 years of executive leadership experience guiding some of the nation’s premier national security organizations to accomplish strategic goals established by Congress, the President, and the Department of Defense. During his time with the Air Force, he worked with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to mitigate facility and flood damage to an Air Force medical training campus.

In addition to his Air Force experiences, Mazey brings experience working with the communities surrounding Canyon Lake.

Since 2019, he has served as a board member for the Canyon Lake Dam Community Alliance and as the President of the Lakeside Property Owners Association.

These experiences have given him a good understanding of the Corps of Engineers lake operations, which include recreation management, environmental stewardship, natural resources, shoreline management, flood risk management, volunteer and partnership programs, and real estate management.

Mazey also has a passion for education and equipping the next generation with knowledge and skills so they can serve as our future leaders capable of making well-informed decisions.

Since 2001, Mazey has been a Boy Scouts of America Scoutmaster, where he has educated, mentored, and invested in young men to help promote them as well-trained and highly informed members of society who understand resource stewardship and sustainability.

Mazey is also the Air Force Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps’ Senior Aerospace Science Instructor at Medina Valley High School.

Mazey’s academic credentials include a Bachelor of Science in Biology and a Master of Business Administration.

The Corps of Engineers is confident that Mazey’s background in operations, program management, and interagency coordination, coupled with his knowledge, experiences, and community connections, will lead to success in this new role. His unwavering dedication to serving others further reinforces our belief in his potential.
