CANYON LAKE, Texas -- Fort Worth District, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at Canyon Lake announced today the temporary closure of the Guadalupe Trail and the Stilling Basin parking lots beginning October 19.
The parking lots will be closed for approximately 30 days for maintenance work with anticipated reopening around Monday November 21. The public will not be allowed in the active construction area.
“We understand access to the trails and river below the Canyon Lake Dam are important to our visiting public. We also want to provide a safe environment for our visitors and in order to ensure their safety we will be restricting access until the work is completed,” announced Canyon Lake Manager, Javier Pérez Ortiz. “Hikers are encouraged to use the Madrone Trail or the John Hancock Trail. Anglers may want to use the fishing piers located in Cranes Mill Park and Boar Ramp #21 or find other access to the Guadalupe River.”
Canyon Lake staff members ask all visitors to practice leave-no-trace, use designated trash receptacles and always wear a life jacket while boating or anytime in or near the water.
