Flooding at Sam Rayburn Lake

Fort Worth District, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers officials today at Sam Rayburn Reservoir announce over the next few winter months work will be accomplished repairing and rebuilding infrastructure to select USACE boat ramps and park entrances.

Boat ramps will be closed for brief periods to allow for construction. Areas affected will include Twin Dikes Public Boat Ramp, San Augustine Park Boat Ramp, and Rayburn Park Boat Ramp. Work is necessary to keep the boat ramps viable and open for public access, even during times of high-water events, as was seen this previous season from May to August.  Other work includes additions of Americans with Disabilities Act compliant sidewalks at Mill Creek Park and San Augustine Park, expansion of concrete entry/exit lanes at San Augustine gatehouse and upgrading of electrical system at Hanks Creek campsites sites 22 through 31.

Construction is scheduled to begin December 6, weather and schedule permitting, with no public access to the ramps during construction.  Twin Dikes Public and San Augustine boat ramps should each take approximately one week to extend concrete aprons up the slope of the ramps. Please plan to use another ramp during this time so that we can improve the ramps listed above. Please see https://www.swf-wc.usace.army.mil/samray/Recreation/Boating/Boatramps.asp for an alternative ramp.
