SOMERVILLE, Texas – Officials with the Fort Worth District, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, announced today that at the request of the City of Brenham, the embankment road located between Lake Somerville Marina & Campground and Welch Park will remain closed until June 2021.

The closure is in response to safety concerns associated with heavy equipment, large vehicular traffic and general hazards associated with an active construction site, as the City works to repair their water intake structure.

To ensure public safety it will be necessary to continue to keep the roadway closed until repairs are complete.  Safety is our number one priority. Any visitors to the lake that will be near or in the water are encouraged to wear a life jacket and follow CDC protocols for COVID-19.

Additional information is available by calling the Somerville Lake Office at 979-596-1622.
