LEWISVILLE, Texas -- Officials with the Fort Worth District, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers announced today dam safety construction at the Lewisville Lake Dam is progressing with construction of the parallel corridor roadway alongside Jones Street beginning from approximately the Lewisville Lake Environmental Learning Area Visitor Center to the outlet works parking lot.
With limited space at the Pavilion and Beaver Pond parking areas and to ensure public safety it will be necessary to close access to these parking areas Monday through Friday beginning June 15 until the parallel corridor construction is complete. Jones Street will remain open for traffic to the outlet works parking lot during this time. The public will be able to use these areas on weekends. Please be aware that once the parallel corridor is complete, the available parking at both of these locations will be significantly reduced from what is currently available.
Your safety is our number one priority before, during and after construction. Please be aware of surroundings at all times and watch for construction activities and movement of supplies and equipment. The timeline for construction is dependent on weather, safe management of flood water stored following rain events, and releases needed for water supply. The dam continues to perform authorized purposes of flood risk management, water supply, recreation, and environmental stewardship. Any visitors to the lake that will be near or in the water are encouraged to wear a life jacket and follow CDC protocols for COVID-19.
