FORT WORTH, Texas – U.S. Army Corps of Engineers representatives at Waco Lake announced this week that Speegleville Park, which normally closes on November 1, will remain open throughout the entire year. The park will continue to offer camping and boat launching. For information on campsite reservations visit recreation.gov or call 877-444-6777.
Additionally, USACE announced the upcoming temporary closure of Airport Park and the Waco Lake Hike and Bike Trail across the Waco Lake Dam. Closures of these areas are necessary to complete multiple construction projects. Public safety is a priority at Waco Lake, therefore these areas will be closed while construction takes place. The Waco Lake Project Office advises all lake visitors to observe restricted area signage. Any persons accessing closed areas will be asked to leave and/or cited. The closure of the Hike and Bike Trail is expected to be approximately two weeks starting today; however, there are several more construction projects scheduled in the next calendar year and the opening and closing of the trail will remain intermittent.
