Col. Charles Klinge, commander, Fort Worth District, is briefed inside the control room of the new Pavaho Pump Station along the West Levee in West Dallas Aug. 16. Pavaho is connected to two separate power substations so it can continue to provide power to the pumps even if one of the substations is knocked out during a storm. The city of Dallas’ project to greatly expand pumping capacity at Pavaho reduces neighborhood flooding by draining water more quickly into the Trinity River. The station becomes fully operational at the end of October.
