USACE – Cedar Gap Park Controlled Burn

Fort Worth District, USACE
Published May 1, 2025

Officials with the Fort Worth District, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Stillhouse Hollow Lake will be conducting controlled burns at Cedar Gap Park, located off FM 3481 in Harker Heights, on Thursday, May 1 and Friday, May 2.

During the flooding in 2024, massive amounts of woody debris washed into the park causing it to be closed. In an effort to reopen the park, Stillhouse Hollow Lake staff and the prescribed fire team have worked to prep the park for multiple controlled burns. As mentioned above, the burning will take place on Thursday, May 1 and Friday, May 2. The office staff and burn team will be working alongside other partner agencies to complete these burns safely.

Local fire departments will be on scene to support the burn.

The Stillhouse Hollow Lake Office would like to thank you for your patience throughout this whole process. For more information or if you have any questions, you can reach out the Stillhouse Hollow Lake Office at 254-939-2461.
