Public Scoping for Whitney Lake Reallocation Study

Fort Worth District, USACE
Published Aug. 18, 2023

Texas – Officials today with the Fort Worth District, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in partnership with the Brazos River Authority, announce the initiated of a Reallocation Study at Whitney Lake, Texas.

The investigation will explore the existing and future conditions at Whitney Lake and develop alternatives that, if implemented, could bridge the gap in meeting present and future water supply demands of our partners for maximum benefit to the State and Nation.

The purpose of the study is to assess possible scenarios of reallocation at Whitney Lake for providing additional municipal and industrial water supply storage that could be used to assist in meeting the immediate and future needs for water supply in the Brazos River Basin.  Because of increasing populations, industrial infrastructure growth, and lack of additional, readily available, water supply storage for M&I uses, water supply shortages are projected for the Brazos River basin in the coming decades.

USACE is seeking public input regarding the scope, information, or topics to be addressed, and public concerns of the Whitney Lake Reallocation Study.

Scoping input can be submitted between August 16 and September 15, 2023 by the following ways:
