U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Celebrates Engineer Week

FORT WORTH, Texas – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Fort Worth District, is participating in a host of activities for the annual Engineers Week Feb.17-23. Week-long activities are conducted to celebrate, highlight and educate the public on the positive contributions engineers make nationally.

The Fort Worth District employs 386 engineers who not only contribute daily to the Corps mission but also are taking their specialized skills to the Dallas-Fort Worth community to promote Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) education.

Events that Fort Worth District will support include a Feb.18-22 Engineers Week and Career Fair at the University of Texas at Arlington; a Feb. 20 National Engineers Girl Day tweet chat that several district engineers will chat on including the Fort Worth Deputy District Engineer; the Feb. 21 Engineering Day for Students at the Fort Worth Museum of Science and History; Introduce a Girl to Engineering Day 2013 at the University of Texas at Dallas and Dallas Independent School District; and a Feb. 23 Dallas Regional Science and Engineering Fair at Fair Park Dallas.

"We have some of the best and brightest engineers the nation has to offer right here in the Fort Worth District and the outreach they are engaged in occurs not just on this special week but daily as we educate the nation’s youth on the importance of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics careers," said Col. Charles Klinge, Commander, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Fort Worth District.
