Officials with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Fort Worth District, announce the temporary closure of Jim Hogg Park, beginning July 20, 2026, to conduct essential repairs to the sewer distribution system.
This necessary construction is anticipated to last for several months. The project's timing is scheduled to comply with environmental regulations protecting endangered species in the area. For the safety of the public, the entirety of Jim Hogg Park will be a restricted construction zone. All visitors are asked to remain outside the park for the duration of the project.
Alternative boat launch facilities are available at Russell Park and Cedar Breaks Park. The hiking trail adjacent to the park is expected to remain open but may be subject to intermittent closures. Visitors are encouraged to check the Lake Georgetown website for the latest updates: https://www.swf-wc.usace.army.mil/georgetown/.
