Georgetown Dam Road Closure Sign

(Sept. 24, 2020) Officials with the Fort Worth District, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers announced today that the embankment road located between Overlook Park and Cedar Breaks Park will be closed temporarily beginning October 1.

Officials with the Fort Worth District, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers announced today that the embankment road located between Overlook Park and Cedar Breaks Park will be closed temporarily beginning October 1.

The closure which will last approximately 2 weeks, is due to safety concerns caused by visitors walking/cycling on top of the embankment road during construction activities resurfacing the road. Overlook Park, The Stilling Basin and the parking area outside Cedar Breaks Park will be closed as well to keep visitors from utilizing this area. Visitors are reminded that they can use the trail heads at Cedar Breaks Park heading north or Jim Hogg and Russell Parks to walk the trails. As repairs are completed, the area could be opened sooner.

“To ensure public safety it will be necessary to close the embankment roadway, until all repairs can be completed,” said Lake Georgetown Manager, Scott W. Blank. “Individuals wishing to access any of these areas will not be able to do so at this time.”

With safety as its number one priority, the lake office asks that any visitors to the lake who will be near or in the water to wear a life jacket and follow CDC protocols for COVID-19.

Additional information is available by calling the Lake Georgetown Office at 521/930-5253.
