Col. Kenneth N. Reed assumed command from Col. Calvin C. Hudson II July 27 in a ceremony officiated by Brig. Gen. Paul E. Owen, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Southwestern Division. The formal change of command ceremony took place at 2 p.m. at the Omni Hotel in Fort Worth, Texas. The Change of Command is a time-honored military tradition which formally reaffirms the authority of command. It is a transfer of the total responsibility, authority and accountability from one individual to another. The transfer is symbolized by the passing of the organizational flag, an icon which embodies the history of the unit or organization.
