Col. Marlon S. Ringo assumed command of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Fort Worth District, on July 31, 2026.
A native of Northern Virginia, Col. Ringo received his commission through the Reserve Officers' Training Corps (ROTC). He holds a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from Hampton University, a Master of Science in Environmental Engineering from the University of Missouri–Rolla, a Master of Military Art and Science from the School of Advanced Military Studies (SAMS), and a Master of Arts in National Security and Strategic Studies from the Naval War College. His military education includes the Engineer Officer Basic and Advanced Courses at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri, and the Army Command and General Staff Officers Course at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas.
Col. Ringo began his operational career in South Korea with the 2nd Infantry Division, serving as the Assault and Obstacle Platoon Leader for Bravo Company, 44th Engineer Battalion (Combat) (Mechanized), and subsequently as the Battalion S-2. In 2003, he returned to the United States for an assignment at Fort Belvoir, Virginia, where he spent two years as a Platoon Leader with the Military District of Washington Engineer Company (now the 911th Technical Rescue Engineer Company), directing technical search and rescue operations. Following this, he served as the Battalion S-1 for the 12th Aviation Battalion.
Upon graduating from the Engineer Officer Advanced Course, Col. Ringo deployed to the Republic of Georgia as the Team Leader for an Engineer Mobile Training Team. In 2007, he assumed command of Charlie Company, 35th Engineer Battalion (OSUT), and later transitioned to command Charlie Company, 31st Engineer Battalion, upon its reactivation. In 2009, he deployed to Baghdad, Iraq, serving on a Military Transition Team as an Engineer and G-7 Training Advisor to the 11th Iraqi Division.
Following his deployment, Col. Ringo served as an Engineer Observer-Controller/Trainer at the Joint Multinational Readiness Center in Hohenfels, Germany. In 2014, he returned to South Korea to serve as a G-35 Future Operations Planner on the Eighth Army Staff. He then served as the Eighth Army HHB Battalion S-3, where he played a pivotal role in coordinating the Eighth Army’s landmark transformation and relocation from Yongsan to Camp Humphreys.
Col. Ringo was subsequently assigned to the Joint Staff at the Pentagon, serving within the J-3 Directorate (J33 Current Operations) in the National Military Command Center. In 2020, he returned to Fort Leonard Wood to command the 35th Engineer Battalion (OSUT) and later served as the Director of Instruction for all Engineer Officer and Warrant Officer courses at the U.S. Army Engineer School. His last assignment was at the Futures and Concepts Command in Fort Eustis, Virginia where he served as the Protection Division Chief.
Col. Ringo’s military decorations and awards include Bronze Star Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, Joint Service Commendation Medal, Joint Service Achievement Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Joint Staff Identification Badge, Gold German Army Proficiency Badge, and the Bronze de Fleury Medal.
Col. Ringo is married to Channa C. Ringo. They have three children: Jacquez, Skylar, and Zoe.
