Lt. Col. Joshua M. Haynes assumed the duties as the Fort Worth District Deputy Commander from August 15, 2022.  He temporarily assumed command of the District for a time in the summer of 2023 until the arrival of the current commander on August 3, 2023, when he then returned to his current deputy commander post.  

Lt. Col. Haynes is originally from Leavenworth, Kansas.  After graduating high school, he enlisted in the U.S. Army as an Infantryman, and was stationed at Hunter Army Airfield, Georgia with 1st Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment. In 2006, he graduated from the University of Saint Mary in Leavenworth, Kansas with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and received his commission from the University of Kansas as an Engineer.

Haynes has since earned his Master of Science Degree in Manufacturing Management from Southern Methodist University, Dallas, Texas, and his Project Management Professional certification from the Project Management Institute.

Prior to his current assignment, Haynes served as the Forward Project Manager in Jordan with U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Transatlantic Division, Middle East District.  

Previous assignments include, Executive Officer, Headquarters and Headquarters Battalion, Battalion Operations Officer, and Facilities Engineer for the 25th Infantry Division, Schofield Barracks, Hawaii; Brigade Operations Officer for 1st Armored Division Sustainment Brigade, Fort Bliss, El Paso, Texas; Assistant Division Engineer, 7th Infantry Division, B Co. Commander - 14th Brigade Engineer Battalion, 562nd Sapper Commander – 1-17 Infantry Battalion, 2nd Infantry Division-2nd Brigade; Route Clearance Platoon Leader in Iraq with 3rd Brigade, 1st Cavalry Division; Project Engineer with the Afghanistan USACE Engineer Division.

Lt. Col. Haynes' military awards and decorations include Bronze Star Medal with three oak leaf clusters, Meritorious Service Medal with two oak leaf clusters, Army Commendation Medal with four oak leaf clusters, Army Achievement Medal with oak leaf cluster, National Defense Service Medal, Afghanistan Campaign with three stars, Iraq Campaign Medal with one star, Combat Action Badge, Ranger Tab, and the Army Parachute Badge. His operational deployments include Operation Iraqi Freedom, Operation Enduring Freedom, and Operation Freedom’s Sentinel.
