The former Outlying Field was established during World War II, and initially used as a pilot training airfield associated with the Dallas Naval Air Station (NAS), eleven miles northeast of the site. During the war, it was converted into a practice bombing range that became known as the Five Points OLF Bombing Range. The site is currently residential and includes the South Arlington Estates mobile home park and Southridge Hills subdivision.
