FORT WORTH, Texas – The Fort Worth District has many shining examples of mission success and that success has expanded to the national level with the recent naming of Carolyn Staten, deputy, Office of Small Business Programs, as the 2013 Society of American Military Engineers Small Business Advocate of the Year.

Staten, a 29-year Federal careerist, received this honor Nov. 19 at the SAME 2013 Small Business Conference in Kansas City, Mo. , for her innovative approach to making the Fort Worth District Small Business Program one of the top programs in USACE.   Her outreach to small business owners, productive district business forums, and user-friendly website, continue to provide opportunities to gain critical skills to support small businesses in the Fort Worth District.

“The great working relationships I share with the district and division engineers, contracting personnel, other small business personnel and small business owners have a direct and positive impact on the success of the District’s mission,” said Staten.

Staten said she has already set a new goal for 2014 to exceed the USACE small business goals for the fourth year in a row.
