    Today, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Fort Worth District, awarded an architect-engineer contract totaling $9.6 million to continue and complete the design of the south bypass channel in support of the Modified Central City Project. The A-E contract was awarded to CDM-Stanley Joint Venture – the team who previously developed the bypass channel design and piers already constructed under White Settlement Road and Henderson Street bridges. The work includes updating and completing the design of the south bypass channel, which is approximately 4,500 feet of the overall 8,400 feet of bypass channel.
  • USACE begins re-filling of B.A. Steinhagen Lake/Town Bluff

    U.S. Army Corps of Engineers officials at Town Bluff Dam/B.A. Steinhagen Lake, Woodville, Texas, (locally known as Dam B) announced today that the process to re-fill B.A. Steinhagen Lake began on Wednesday, July 19, 2023.  The necessary maintenance work on the Robert D. Willis Powerhouse, which required a complete drawdown of the lake, has been successfully completed ahead of schedule.

    The U.S Army Corps of Engineers, Fort Worth District announced today the award of a $48.1 million contract to Granite Construction Co., from Watsonville, California, for Phase 1 of a flood risk mitigation levee system to be constructed in Wharton, Texas.

    Today, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Fort Worth District, awarded an architect-engineer contract totaling $6.8 million to continue and complete the design of the North Bypass Channel in support of the Modified Central City Project.     Officials with the Fort Worth District, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers announced today that the embankment road located between Lake Somerville Marina and Campground and Welch Park will be closed beginning at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, May 3, through 4:30 p.m. on Friday, May 5, 2023.

    U.S. Army Corp of Engineers officials with the Fort Worth District, announced today that starting May 8, the Stilling Basin/Outlet Area at Jim Chapman Lake will be closed temporarily for repaving of the parking lot.
  • Maintenance to close temporarily Canyon Lake Dam service road  

    Fort Worth District, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers officials at Canyon Lake will temporarily close the dam service road for embankment maintenance April 24 through 27. The Overlook Park Road will be open for public enjoyment, but the dam service road is expected to be closed for four days to allow a contractor to stage equipment and perform maintenance.
  • Belton and Stillhouse Hollow Lakes low levels impact recreation and safety

    Officials with the Fort Worth District, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Project Offices at Belton and Stillhouse Hollow Lakes are currently experiencing lower than normal lake levels. Due to these conditions, swim beaches and various boat ramps may be closed throughout the summer season. Current lake levels are low enough that all designated swim beaches at Belton and Stillhouse Hollow Lakes are out of the water and will remain closed until further notice. The public is still allowed to swim in the lakes, but we urge you to exercise extreme caution and be on the lookout for submerged hazards. As always, please wear a life jacket when in, on or near the water.

    Officials with the Fort Worth District, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, today announced the closure of High View Marina at Bardwell Lake, effective April 4, 2023.
  • Construction schedule update at Canyon Lake

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at Canyon Lake has rescheduled gate replacement work that was planned for this year. The gates are functioning as designed and priority in sequence of repairs has changed.  Work on the control tower service bridge will precede gate replacement work.  As a result of this change, USACE does not anticipate disruptions to river flow releases that would have resulted from the gate replacement work. USACE intends to change over low flow releases to the Guadalupe Blanco River Authority later this week.
  • Construction of Outlet Works/Stilling Basin at Lake O’ the Pines causes closure

    U.S. Army Corps of Engineers officials with the Fort Worth District, announced today, from March 13 through 17, the Stilling Basin (Outlet Area) at Lake O' the Pines will be closed to the public, for rip-rap placement and bank stabilization work.

    Working in conjunction with Texas A&M Forest Service, Texas Parks and Wildlife, Killeen Fire Department, and Salado Volunteer Fire Department, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at Stillhouse Hollow Lake will be conducting prescribed burn operations March 8, at the Union Grove Wildlife Management Area near Salado, Texas located at Union Grove Lane off FM 2484.
  • Modified Central City Project receives $20M in FY 2023 Work Plan

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers delivered to Congress its Fiscal Year 2023 Work Plan for the Army Civil Works program Feb. 27. In the FY23 Work Plan, Fort Worth District’s Modified Central City project received $20M to continue the design of the project, which will include completing the Clear Fork, Trinity Point, and Tarrant Regional Water District Isolation Gates and TRWD Pump Station beyond the initial design. 
  • Stillhouse Hollow Lake’s Chalk Ridge Fall Park temporarily closing

    Officials with the Fort Worth District, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers announced today that effective March 14, Chalk Ridge Fall Park, at Stillhouse Hollow Lake, will be temporarily closed for maintenance. The park will be closed at 4 p.m. on March 14 and scheduled to reopen at 8 a.m. on March 16. Maintenance will include moving supplies and equipment to service different amenities within the park. Patience and understanding of this closing are appreciated.

The Water Resources Development Act (WRDA) of 2022, a subset (Division H) of the James M. Inhofe National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2023, was signed into law on December 23, 2022.
