USACE officials announce closures at Waco Lake Hike and Bike Trail and Bosque Park

Published May 24, 2016

FORT WORTH, Texas –U.S. Army Corps of Engineers representatives at Waco Lake announced today the Hike and Bike Trail across Waco Lake Dam and Bosque Park will be closed for an undetermined amount of time. These closures, effective immediately, are the result of multiple incidents of vandalism and forced entry into restricted areas. There will be an increase in patrols of the closed areas. Any persons found to be on the structure or in Bosque Park will be asked to leave and/or cited.

“Public safety is a priority at Waco Lake as is the protection of the infrastructure,” said Lake Manager Heath McLane. “The closures will allow the lake staff to assess security for these areas and make necessary changes.”
