U.S. Army Corps of Engineers recognizes Allyson Walters as Interior Designer of the Year

Published Aug. 23, 2013

FORT WORTH, Texas – The Fort Worth District’s continued success in all of their numerous missions has made them a model district within the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, and that is once again exemplified by the recent naming of Allyson Walters, SWF Interior Designer, as the USACE  Interior Designer of the Year.  Prior to this award, she was also named the Southwestern Division’s Designer of the Year.

Walters, a nine-year Corps employee, received this top honor for her dynamic leadership and facilitation of a major design process that resulted in the highly successful completion of a $5.5 million District office renovation for Fort Worth District offices within the Fritz G. Lanham Federal Building.

Walters’ leadership skills were key to how she managed a complex team representing 17 internal and external agencies through the planning, design, budgeting and construction of the project.  Among the numerous milestone achievements was her creation of a unique design that resulted in a reduction of space allocation per district employee, saving the district several thousand dollars in overall facility costs.

“Allyson is greatly deserving of this top honor.  Her leadership as the project manager for the Fort Worth District Office renovation, reorganization and furniture procurement has positively impacted every district employee assigned in the federal building,” said Col. Charles Klinge, commander, Fort Worth District.

As a result of the success of the Fort Worth District renovation project, Walters is utilizing her superior design skills once again as the project manager for the ongoing Southwestern Division Headquarters Office, Dallas renovation project.

“I was already honored and humbled when I received the Southwestern Division award, and to now receive the award for the entire Corps is an honor that I consider among my greatest career achievements,” said Walters.
