Postcard draw instructions for 2018-2019 doe permits at Wright Patman Lake

FORT WORTH, Texas – U.S. Army Corps of Engineers officials at Wright Patman Lake announce today instructions for issuing doe permits for the 2018-2019 hunting season through a postcard draw. 

Hunters wanting to have a doe permit to use during archery only season, general season, and muzzleloader season will need to enter a postcard with the Project Office. Postcards will be accepted from August 15 – September 14 and can be dropped off at the Wright Patman Project Office between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. Monday through Friday, or mailed to the Project Office at 64 Clear Springs Park, Texarkana, TX 75501. Postcards must contain name, address, and telephone number of the person entering the draw, as well as the Hunting Compartment number that you are wishing to get a permit for. A copy of the valid 2018-2019 Texas hunting license must accompany each postcard. Hunting compartment and maximum number of permits to be issued per compartment are as follows: 

  • Hunting Compartment #1 incorporates areas in Bowie County east of Highway 8. There will be 80 permits issued for this compartment in areas not encompassed by the Clear Springs ATV area. There will be 10 permits issued for the Clear Springs ATV area. If you are wanting a doe permit for the Clear Springs ATV area, please specify that on the postcard sent in for the draw.

  • Hunting Compartment #2 incorporates areas in Cass County east of Highway 8. There will be 60 permits issued for this compartment.

  • Hunting Compartment #3 incorporates areas in Cass County west of Highway 8. There will be 54 permits issued for this compartment.

  • Hunting Compartment #4 incorporates areas in Bowie County west of Highway 8. There will be 96 permits issued for this compartment. 

    Hunters that are drawn for the permit will have their permit mailed to the address on the postcard prior to the start of the archery only season hunting season that begins on September 29, 2018. Hunters that are drawn for a permit will be required to report their harvest and other pertinent information such as field dressed weight of the doe. More instructions for reporting will be given to hunters that receive a permit.
